National Solidarity Program (NSP)
With the first NSP block grant over a period of twelve months, targeted communities gained support in the areas of:
- Community Mobilization—facilitation of elections to establish Community Development Councils (CDCs) and assistance to CDCs in the identification of priority subprojects, preparation of Community Development Plans, and implementation of approved subprojects.
- CDC/community capacity building (men and women) in the areas of participating, consensus-building, accounting, procurement and contract management, operations and maintenance, and monitoring.
- Block grant transfers to fund subprojects; and
- Linking CDCs to government agencies, NGOs, and donors to improve access to services and resources.
