The Women’s Teacher Training Institute (WTTI)
Currently housed in six well-appointed rooms within the National Women’s Dormitory of Kabul University, the Women’s Teacher Training Institute was conceived as a training venue in which a variety of training topics and resources could be accessed. The first set of training activities undertaken by the WTTI have been those for LCEP. That is, currently all LCEP teacher training and materials development has been completed by WTTI staff. WTTI employs 16 qualified male and female teacher trainers; 4 materials developers; 3 translators; one full-time administrator and an assistant. The Institute is overseen by an advisory council which meets monthly and is composed of Deputy Ministers of Education, Women and Labor & Social Affairs, representatives from the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, UNICEF & UNESCO and a number of sector related NGOs.
