National Solidarity Program (NSP)

With the first NSP block grant over a period of twelve months, targeted communities gained support in the areas of:

  1. Community Mobilization—facilitation of elections to establish Community Development Councils (CDCs) and assistance to CDCs in the identification of priority subprojects, preparation of Community Development Plans, and implementation of approved subprojects.
  2. CDC/community capacity building (men and women) in the areas of participating, consensus-building, accounting, procurement and contract management, operations and maintenance, and monitoring.
  3. Block grant transfers to fund subprojects; and
  4. Linking CDCs to government agencies, NGOs, and donors to improve access to services and resources.
